Over the years, Ram Gopal Varma has made a name for himself in the entertainment industry. He never shies away from calling spade a spade while expressing his views on cinema, the happenings in the society and politics. Known for always getting into trouble for his controversial statements, he recently opened up about the current state of Indian cinema and compared it to big-budget Hollywood movies.

Talking about the same during an interview with Galatta Plus, he even compared Hollywood coming together to make Oppenheimer to Bollywood coming together to make Thugs of Hindostan, which has flopped at the box-office. Quoted by the Hindustan Times, he added, “More than anything else, it is their personal attitude which is reflecting in their films.” He went on to add how Bollywood filmmakers don’t make such films as they think that their audience is dumb. He said, “First of all, we don’t make such films. We think of the audiences as dumb. Basically, the kind of cinema they make, and the benchmark there… Imagine what is the benchmark here. All the big (Hollywood) stars come together and make Oppenheimer. On the work front, Ram Gopal Varma was last seen in Kalki 2898 AD. His cameo as Prabhas’ friend Chintu was well-loved by the audience. The movie also starred Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, Disha Patani, Dulquer Salmaan, and Keerthy Suresh in pivotal roles. Fans have been eagerly waiting for the makers to announce updates about the movie’s second part.
